About HoopsEnglish
Our mission
HoopsEnglish teaches English through the game people already love. Every lesson starts with real basketball — game footage, press conferences, coaching clinics — so the vocabulary, grammar and listening practice stick because they are used the way coaches and players actually use them.
Where it comes from
HoopsEnglish was built by Tim Fanning, a college and national-team basketball coach who spent years coaching in Europe and watching talented coaches and players held back by English. Since 2020 the program has been part of the Spanish Basketball Federation's coach education, with more than 200 coaches a year working through it.
Who is behind it
A small team of coaches and English teachers writes, records and reviews every activity. There is no content farm here: the people who built the courses still read your feedback and fix what you flag.
What we believe
- Learn the language of the game you play — not textbook English.
- Short, daily practice beats long, occasional study.
- Real footage, real coaches, real voices — no scripted dialogues.
